Frank had risen to the rank of consigliari in the Los Angeles Mafia when I had met him in 1976.
A newly minted made-man named Mike Rizzitello introduced me to “Bomp” in a coffee shop in San Francisco. “Rizzi”, as he was called, told “Bomp” I was a very capable.dear friend of his and that he had known me since I was a young kid. Capable, is mob speak for being able to go out cold and whack out some stiff on a bosses orders. Which is what “Bomp” had done many times..Like when he kidnapped a guy named Phil Galuzzo and pistol whipped him, and then shot him six times in the head..
. It wasn’t long after I met “Bomp” that “Rizzi” had made a meet in Du par’s restaurant with me and Jack LoCicero –who was another made guy who spoke fluent broken English…”Rizzi” said that “Bomp” had given him the name of two porn operators that weren’t mobbed up The porn pair were brothers who operated out of a motel in the San Fernando valley. Me and Jack, and some mug named Dom the pig grabbed one of the them , the other one wasn’t there, and I shoved this scared guy up against a wall and told him he and his pal had to pay tribute to us, meaning the L.A.family, if they were going to operate in our city.. The payoffs were collected by the L.A mob for over a year. Then one day the sky fell in and everyone got busted. .
. The duo turned out to be FBI agents and they were planted there as part of a sting operation called Forex Seems that the Bomp was a longtime snitch and had been playing both sided of the fence An FBI agent named Jack Barron had gotten tired of “Bomp’s” selective memory and came up with a perfect plan for his prize fink…He told “Bomp” some new guys were operating a porn distribution supplying tapes to Mexico out of a motel and to see what information he could find out about them.. Barron counted on Frankie biting on the bait and cutting himself and his Mafia pals in on a big payday…Frankie had wasted no time telling his trusted pal, Mafia Capo, Jimmy Fratianno about the two humps that were an easy score because they weren’t with anyone. Meaning they weren’t mob protected and were ripe to be financially raped.. Fratianno had given this information to “Rizzi” and told him to make the move on the two guys.. After the shit storm, .the Boss of the L.A. Mob, Dominic Brooklier, .told Fratianno to get to the bottom of things and find out how Bompensiero came up with the tip.
When Fratianno called “Bomp” he immediately smelled a rat when” Bomp” said he whacked-out the guy that gave him the “bum steer”,and buried him….Fratianno quickly played along with “Bomp”. Jimmy knew Frankie’s routine was to make his nightly calls from a payphone that was located a couple of blocks from his home. and he told Brooklier–who then told him to call “Bomp” on that phone and set him up for a “Slugger” to whack him out.. While standing in a phone booth talking on the phone to his pal Jimmy Fratianno , Frankie was pumped full of lead from a twenty two automatic with a silencer attached to it.. The gun had been fired from the hand of Mob-shooter. Tommy Ricciardi, ,who had been acting on the orders of Dominic Brooklier. Covered in Frankie Bompensiero’s blood, Tommy Ricciardi sped away in a car driven by Jack LoCicero .
