Says reputed mobster can’t pay taxpayers back

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Calling his client “indigent,” the attorney for reputed mobster Anthony “The Saint” St. Laurent is asking a judge to deny the government’s demand he pay taxpayers back for the use of a public defender in his murder-for-hire case.
In court documents filed last week, federal prosecutors asked a judge to send St. Laurent a bill for his use the of a taxpayer-funded attorney before switching to private counsel Victor J. Beretta
In a response filed Monday, Beretta writes in a one line document, “[St. Laurent] objects to the government’s motion for reimbursement of attorney fees and for reason says that the defendant is indigent.”
