ACCUSED murderer Judy Moran told police her son, Jason, “should have got that right” when he shot family rival Carl Williams, according to court documents.

In a statement seen by the Herald Sun, after a 13-day committal hearing over the murder of Des Moran, his sister-in-law Judy said she was not happy with the way he spoke about her children in the months before his death.

Des Moran was shot dead at an Ascot Vale caf aac last June 15.

“He said that my children started the gangland killings,” Ms Moran, 65, told police before her arrest. “But what a lot of people don’t remember is, stuff happened before, way before, Jason shot Carl Williams.

“That’s one thing Jason did wrong. He should have got that right. My boys weren’t murderers.”

Deputy Chief Magistrate Jelena Popovic yesterday committed Ms Moran and three co-accused – Suzanne Kane, 45, Geoffrey Armour, 44, and Michael Farrugia, 45 – to stand trial in the Supreme Court for murder.

The trial is not expected to begin this year.

All will contest the charges.

“I am satisfied the issues are jury issues and ought to go before a jury,” Ms Popovic said.

A bail bid by Ms Moran was adjourned to April 28.

Mr Armour did not apply for bail; bail for Ms Kane, his de facto wife, was extended.

Mr Farrugia’s bail application will resume next week.
