Lawyer Joseph Corozzo

Reputed wiseguy Michael Scarpaci can keep his lawyer despite allegations by the prosecutors that he’s “house counsel” to the Gambino crime family

Manhattan Federal Court Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that there’s no conflict of interest if Joseph Corrozzo continues to represent Scarpaci.

He said the fact that Corrozzo’s father is the Gambino consigliere and his uncle is a capo weren’t enough to get him the boot.

Prosecutors had asked Kaplan to determine whether Scarpaci had been “forced to retain an attorney foisted upon him by the Gambino family” – presumably to stop him from ratting.

Scarpaci, 34, is accused of running Gambino gambling operations, recruiting bettors, running card games and collecting the cash.
