The grandson of Dapper Don, John Gotti, the former Gambino Family Mafia boss, was arrested after a group of youths fired a pellet gun before making their escape in a car.

Police officers were visiting a school in Howard Beach, a suburb of Queens in New York City, where children were celebrating Halloween by covering the school in toilet paper and shaving cream.  During the visit they heard a shot and saw four youths, aged between 14 and 17, reportedly flee the scene in a car allegedly driven by the younger Gotti, 17, who is also named John. He is the son of Peter Gotti Jr.

The plainclothes officers followed the car before pulling it over and taking the group into custody. They also recovered a pellet gun, which was thrown from the vehicle but recovered by the police, sources told The New York Post.

Gotti, who died in prison in 2002 of cancer, was the flamboyant and outspoken leader of the Gambino crime family in the US.

Dubbed the Teflon Don after being acquitted twice in court, he was rumoured in the late 1980s to be earning $1 million a month from organised crime as head of New York’s biggest Mafia family. Click here: John Gotti’s grandson ‘arrested’ – Telegraph
