A St. Léonard gelato factory was the target of an attempted firebombing early Sunday morning in what Montreal police suspect is the latest warning sign in an escalating Mafia war between rival factions.

Firefighters quickly doused the fire at Ital Gelati on Creusot St. A security guard heard a loud noise at around 12:30 a.m. in back of the factory and saw “several incendiary objects thrown against the wall of the building,” Montreal police Constable Daniel Richer said.

“The fire damage was very minor.”

The attempted firebombing is the third time that businesses either wholly or partially owned by Domenico Arcuri have been targeted since the end of August. Arcuri’s name has surfaced at least 20 times in police wiretaps taken during Projet Colisée, an investigation into the Montreal Mafia and its associates, including members of the Rizzuto clan.  read more   Here
