Former mobbed up union boss sentenced to prison  for shaking down members of his own union

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – A reputed Genovese mob family associate has been sentenced to prison for his role in a conspiracy to extort members of the longshoremen’s union on the New Jersey waterfront.

Federal prosecutors said 64-year-old Nunzio LaGrosso, of Florham Park, received a 28-month term when he was sentenced Wednesday. He also will have to serve two years of supervised release once he’s freed from prison.
