Italian police on Wednesday arrested 23 alleged members of the Mancuso clan of the Ndrangheta as part of a probe into mafia penetration of the political and business sectors in and around the city of Vibo Valentia,reports Ansa News
Some 70 million euros in assets were seized traced to Mancuso clan capo’s including three ships police said
Vibo Valentia provincial president Andrea Niglia was placed under investigation for mafia association along with several other local officials
A statue of the Madonna used in a local procession on a fest day was found on a boat owned by one of the Mancuso clan bosses arrested.
