A Gambino capo’s violent past caught up with him Tuesday when he was sentenced to life in prison – plus 10 years – for gunning down the owners of a Queens bar over a spilled drink in 1981.

Bartolomeo (Bobby) Vernace was a mere mob associate when he killed Richard Godkin and John D’Agnese, but the brutal killings proved his mettle to the underworld and helped vault him over the next three decades to a seat on the crime family’s ruling panel, prosecutors said
