On Monday 20 people were sent to trial in a case connected to the  Capital Mafia investigation  in which  a mafia  gang allegedly muscled in on city of Rome contracts worth millions, reports AnsaNews

The suspects are accused of  criminal association, bid rigging and fraud related to public contracts, including one for work on the city hall assembly, Sala Giulio Cesar

Businessman Fabrizio Amore and former city official Maurizio Anastasi are among the people implicated. The trial will start on March 2

Among those  originally  arrested in the Capital Mafia case was mobster Massimo Carminati,  the alleged leader  of the organized crime gang who lost an eye during a gun battle  with police in the early 1980s.
