Murdered Hero Falcone’s sister blasts Grillo for ‘pro-Mafia’ comment

The sister of a slain anti-Mafia magistrate on Monday blasted  Beppe Grillo for comments he made at a political demonstration in the Sicilian capital Palermo. Reported Ansa News

On Sunday, Grillo, the controversial leader of the anti-establishment Five-Star Movement (M5S) said the Sicilian Mafia “had a moral conduct of its own” at a demonstration dubbed Distrust Day against the regional governor Rosario Crocetta, who once lived under close police protection 

Maria Falcone, the proud sister of prosecuting magistrate Giovanni Falcone, who was murdered by the Sicilian mafia  said  Grillo’s words were an insult to all the victims of the Cosa Nostra”

 

Mr. Grillo shows that he does not know the meaning of the word ‘mafia’. He treats lightly an argument that has created so much pain and so many deaths; he forgets the sacrifice of Giovanni Falcone and of the other victims of the Cosa Nostra”.

Giovanni Falcone campaigned  to defeat the Cosa Nostra  in Sicily and  spearheaded the so-called Maxi-trial of 1986 that resulted in the successful conviction of 360 defendants .

He was killed in a bomb blast ordered by Mafia ” Boss Of Bosses”  Toto Riina near the Sicilian town of Capaci in May 1992.
