Moscow, Russia–Valery Zorkin, Russia’s top high court Judge, wrote openly and honestly in the Russian Government newspaper, Rossiyskya Gazeta, that Russian Mafia organized crime is a sickening plague to the health of civil society in Russia and he wants to push back at the mobsters, Chicago style. He also noted that it was ‘obvious’ that, in some parts of the country, it is becoming impossible to distinguish between local government and Mafia operations.
If the Mafia isn’t pushed back ‘all of our dreams about a just, healthy, democratic and rule-abiding society will be buried,’ wrote Zorkin. He added that Russians might soon demand an ‘iron dictatorship’ if the problem continues to spread.
