March 14, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — A death threat made to a Chicago bookstore has resulted in the cancellation of well-publicized appearances by mobster-turned federal informant Frank Calabrese, Jr., the ABC7 I-Team has learned.
Calabrese, author of the just-released “Family Secrets-How a Mobster’s Son and the FBI Brought Down Chicago’s Murderous Crime Family” was to begin a national book tour this week in metro Chicago.
Calabrese’s first book signings scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday at Borders bookstores have been cancelled, according to representatives of stores on State St. in Chicago and in west suburban Oak Brook. Employees of both stores said that they were not told why the book-signing events had been scrubbed.
