There are different versions of what happened to Joe Masseria, the mob leader also known as “the Boss” back in 1931–when he got whacked in a Coney Island eatery in Brooklyn–allegedly on orders given by New York Mafia boss Salvatore Maranzano
According to mafia informer Joseph Valachi, the Coney Island hit was allegedly a piece-of-work perpetrated by Lucky Luciano,Vito Genovese, Frank Livorsi and Joe Stracci .
