A 61-year-old man today pleaded guilty in federal court in Kansas City to running a multimillion-dollar online sports bookmaking business.
James J. Moretina of Kansas City admitted to conducting the illegal sports bookmaking business that relied on a website with a computer server in Costa Rica from March 1, 2006, to March 31, 2009.
Bettors wagered more than $3.5 million during that three-year period.
Moretina was the last of four co-defendants to plead guilty to conducting an illegal gambling operation.
