MONTREAL – Quebec has ordered an investigation following media reports a Montreal police detective tried to peddle secrets to the Mafia.
Sgt.-Det. Ian Davidson committed suicide last month, a day after he made headlines as a mole who offered stolen data to gangsters for $1 million.
Public Security Minister Robert Dutil said Wednesday that provincial police will lead a probe into several leaks about the ongoing investigation.
Montreal police chief Marc Parent decried the fact his investigators are leaking details of the Davidson probe to the media.
“I’ve been shocked to read confidential information day after day,” said Parent. “We won’t accept that. When you’re a police officer, you have a duty to discretion.” read more Here
