After four years on the run, Leo “Lillo” Caridi, the reputed ranking boss of the ‘Ndrangheta clan ” Caridi-Borghetto-Zindato”, was brought back to Italy from Switzerland by Italian and Interpol police
Caridi was arrested in 2011 in operation “High Voltage 2” along with numerous criminal characters including Giuseppe Plutino, Councilor PDL Reggio Calabria , a political powerhouse considered in cahoots with the ‘Ndrangheta
The investigation arose from information supplied by two Mafia turncoats who revealed the collusive relations between politicians and the ‘Calabrian Ndrangheta
Caridi served two years in prison but was released without supervision during the course of the trial and disappeared for shelter in Switzerland because he was disheartened by the Italian courts, said his lawyer
Interpol police eventually tracked him down to a location in Switzerland and alerted Italian police who secured Caridi’s extradition to Italy. The fugitive mafia boss arrived at Fiumicino airport in Rome on Friday.
