Montana was an unlikely film actor, who started his career as a wrestler before becoming an enforcer and bodyguard for the Columbo crime family. After ‘The Godfather’ he would go on to play similarly tough characters in more than a dozen films well into the 1980s.
He passed away in 1992 after suffering a heart attack while in Italy, having retired from acting.
