A Brooklyn judge will allow lawyers for two Colombo mobsters to inspect a secret recording device used to record their clients — a rare move prosecutors say could blow the cover of informants or force the FBI to design new gadgetry.
Federal Judge Frederic Block ruled that lawyers for reputed Colombo consigliere Thomas Farese and associate Pat Truglia could examine the inner workings of a wristwatch that allowed an undercover to record numerous conversations with unsuspecting wiseguys.
Block issued the order because the informant — ex-capo Reynold Maragni — allegedly turned the device off when he wanted, a no-no for informants that undermines Maragni’s credibility, lawyers said. read rest Here
