The Italian Flying squad of Naples have arrested a major mafia drug dealer in the Secondigliano and Scampia area, the scene of a deadly feud for control over drugs and prostitution rackets in the region
Antonio Leonardi, 52, was arrested in an apartment near a railroad station after being on the run for several months from the Guardia di Finanza, who started a drug trafficking investigation on him in 2008.
Leonardi is allegedly affiliated with the Di Lauro clan of the Camorra and is considered close to boss Marco Di Lauro , son of Paolo di Lauro, the clans finding father known as ” Ciruzzo the millionaire” who was arrested in September 2005.
According to a police informer,Leonardi was granted permission by Marco Di Lauro to act as his agent in charge of dealing cocaine and heroin to other clans in Naples .He is allegedly laundering the dirty drug money through legal betting businesses.
Authorities have alleged Leonardi also heads a crew of vicious enforcers whose mission is to destroy a breakaway faction of clan Di Lauro called the Abbinate clan .Both factions are fighting each other in what is known as “Feud Scampia”.
