Tino Fiumara , late Genovese mob waterfront boss

A Lyndhurst man was banned Tuesday from working on the waterfront after he was found to have associated with two notorious mob figures. Reports North Jersey. com

Pasquale Pontoriero, 50, was stripped of his license by the Waterfront Commission after a 14-month hearing that focused on his contact with two alleged members of the Genovese crime family: Tino Fiumara  and Steven DePiro.

Pontoriero worked for Ports America in Newark as a $250,000-a-year hiring agent, a powerful position that gave him discretion to decide who got work on the docks, said Walter Arsenault, executive director of the Waterfront Commission. The commission is a bi-state agency charged with rooting out corruption and organized crime at the docks.

The commission’s unanimous vote marked the first time it had revoked a license after a full hearing related to a dockworker’s alleged contact with reputed mobsters, Arsenault said.
